ABOUT

Greek pianist and musicologist Eleni Kamaratou is currently a doctoral candidate at the Department of Music Studies, University of Ioannina. She holds degrees from Brooklyn College (May 2021, M.A. in Musicology), and from the College of Charleston (May 2019, B.A. in Piano Performance (studio of Ran Dank and Paul Sánchez), Music Theory/Composition, and Music History).
She was the recipient of many merit scholarships during her studies. Since 2018 Eleni has been under the tutelage of Robert Durso, master teacher of the Taubman approach and co-founder of the Golandsky Institute. Eleni is a certified Instructor of the Taubman Approach through the Golandsky Institute.
She also holds an Artist Diploma in Performance, studying under Alexandra Papastefanou at Philippos Nakas Conservatory.

Distinctions

Eleni has performed in masterclasses taught by eminent pianists, such as Sergei Babayan, Alessio Bax, Barry Douglas, Marina Lomazov, Robert McDonald, James Tocco, Boris Berman, Vassilis Varvaresos, Tanya Gabrielian, Ayşedeniz Gökçin, and others. She has frequently participated in summer music festivals in Europe and the United States, such as the Miami Music Festival piano institute, Piano Obidos international masterclasses, and Dakota Sky Piano Academy.
As an undergraduate student she performed Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor with the College of Charleston Orchestra at the Gaillard Center, conducted by Yuriy Bekker.
Eleni is also interested in new music and has done the world premier of works by Yiorgos Vassilandonakis (Persistent Outliers, Archanes Piano Academy, 2014), and Manos Panayiotakis (Idol of Clytemnestra, Archanes Piano Academy, 2022). In addition to Greek and English, Eleni can also speak and teach in Italian and German. Since February 2025 she is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Music Studies, University of Ioannina. She currently teaches piano at Philippos Nakas Conservatory, in Greece.
